These squares of wood don’t look like much now, but in a few months, they will be hanging in the halls as personalized name plates for all the teachers!

One more thing - as most of you know, we have two superstars in the making in the club. These two are extra fabulous and we have the privilege of getting to say that we knew them before they were discovered. So check out Peter and Alec’s newest music project - Dirty Pop!
Teacher Plaques
Hello crafty club members, teachers and parents, (but most likely crafty club members),
This week we made a lot of headway on our highly anticipated project of the moment - making name plaques for each of the LASA teachers in thanks of everything they do for us. Everybody was assigned a group of teachers to talk to about getting quotes and photos for their plaque. So if you’re a teacher at LASA, expect a visit from one of the members and have a quote ready that you think sums up your teaching philosophy or just something that’s cute or funny, as well as a convenient time for you to take a head shot for your plaque. The LASA teachers in the dungeon will also be included in our project, as well as the band directors, the yearbook/newspaper teacher and the theater teacher.
I would also like to give a huge thanks to Ms. Aguayo-Tabor for generously donating a fabulous STICKER MAKER to the Crafty Club. It is greatly appreciated, as I have never seen a device so awesome and table adhesive. (Seriously, once the thing is opened, its suction powers make it impossible to pull off the table, which is good - LASA students don’t exhibit much grace.) Anyway, we are all excited to be able to use it.

Jason also contributed by bringing a big bag of spray paint - the retired vandal that he is. Thanks to Jason for bringing some edge to Crafty Club. Seriously though, now our plaques can experience some quick and easy color, and any other craft that requires paint.

I’m so happy we had such a big group today in Ms. Richey’s room, everyone had such good contributions to the discussion. Even the kid from E-zine that was working on his own stuff was helpful (he took our group picture.) We are all very excited about beginning the construction of the plaques - we can’t wait to add our own touch to LASA. Keep those donations coming, they really help out. I’ll post the instructions on how to make the plaques soon!
Here is the latest Crafty Club photo, and I know, the demon eyes are killin’ me too! I suppose it gives us some character though. Next week hopefully we can fix that glitch, maybe get some more light in the room. Still, I think we look pretty dang cute, even the food hanging out of Sydney’s face. Katie looks like she’s having a good time as well in Santi’s headlock. Only in Crafty Club!
Everyone keep workin’ your parents for those donations! Ms. Richey has requested a spot in the Lot’s of LASA for crafty club, so that helps a lot!
Sydney is working hard on our Christmas craft - folding page after page in phonebooks to eventually make a Christmas tree.
There is a craft in everything. We just want to make our world beautiful
(as in Ms. Richey)
We Need Materials!
In order for our crafts to reach their full potential, we will need all the materials we can get. We need donations, so talk to your parents, your friends, your parents’ friends, your neighbors, your pets, anyone you can think of that would be willing to donate for a crafty cause! Anything from markers and construction paper to foam board and spray paint would be helpful, especially for our upcoming project!

We spent today’s meeting discussing plans for our next idea - personalized name plates for the outside of all the teachers’ rooms. For this we will need wood, “modge podge” (for a glossy shine), photo paper, etc. So obviously we are taking on a major project, and it could get expensive. So any donations will be greatly appreciated!
On a side note, from now on I will be posting instructions on how to make different crafts so that people outside the club won’t feel excluded. Of course they could always become a member…
